Default [Answered] How to install hard disk for laptop?

hi........
Guys....i need your help and advise....
Firstly ,currently i'm using my laptop an HP DV2000. my hard disk is running low and left with 158mb only. No use disk clean up, disk defragment as its already used up with some applications.
I want to change to a new internal hard disk drives with all my current applications ,items , data to be placed/ installed into a new internal hard disk. Is it possible? How to do about with it?

Secondly , is there any best recommended external hard disk drives which have a one push button or some sort of application where it can back up all my laptop items data into the hard disk drives , leaving my laptop with its original hard disk spaces...?.

thanks.......

Hello amypierro,
Yes you could make a ghost image of your harddrive with a Norton program to copy your harddrive. But for an external harddrive try a Maxtor Onetouch 4 Plus.

Hello, you can just buy an external to put all your files/music/data on wich will free up space on your hard drive.

Or as AMDPhem sugested use Norton Ghost to make a mirror drive of your already installed hard drive.

Laptop Hard drives are usaly simple to install just unscrew the plate on bottom of laptop they usaly just pull out old drive and push in new.
You can buy cables or cases to convert the old drive into an external drive.

I would never ever trust a usb drive with important data I can not emphasis the word NEVER enough. I would buy a nas unit and connect it to my router personally and use software to back up data to it. Also please note you will not be able to leave your laptop with its original space as programs installed will still need to be installed on the local drive as external devices as rule will not have a fast enough data rate to run a program from the drive

Here is an example of a internal laptop external case to convert internal to external slave.

2.5" USB Laptop IDE Hard Drive HDD Caddy Enclosure Case on eBay, also, Hard Drive Caddies Enclosures, Drives Storage, Computing (end time 22-Apr-08 22:35:00 BST)

Here is an example of NAS storage.

Netgear SC101 NAS LAN Network Attached Storage Center on eBay, also, Other Networking, Networking, Computing (end time 22-Apr-08 21:56:39 BST)

Good idea zinglebar.
