I am having a problem installing an operation system

I have tried Windows XP and Ubuntu 7.10.

Now the problem:

There is NO problem installing the first part O/S set-up goes through process of installing all files up to the first computer restart.

There's the problem it goes back to bios and and a blank screen saying press any key then trouble installing Operation system

If I press a key just starts the same process all over again.

Please any HELP

Just remove the disc from the drive after it says restart. Then it will boot from what it has already installed on the system. (or just don't press any key?)

Or did I missunderstand you and if you don't press anything it causes trouble? But what kind of trouble? Explain it a bit better

OK when the o/s wants to to restart the logo for my motherboard with the del option to go into bios.

Then it goes to a blank screen with the words press any key to to boot cd.

If I DO this the process starts all over again

Yes I told you to remove the cd from the drive or not press any key.
Otherwise go in BIOS and find the boot order. Change it so HDD is first(or second, if you remove the cd :P)

Hi I have just tried your surgestion and took out the disc before restart but it came up the same my motherboard logo then blank screen saying press any key to boot from CD

I did not press any key and the following came on the same screen ......Error loading operation system

Yes try and enter BIOS by pressing Del button and see if in the boot order there is your HDD.
