Quick question. Are physics cards worth the time and money?

Not right now. Eventually physics will become an important part of games, but for right now, there is only 1 game that actually makes use of the AGEIA physX card. Dont even bother.

Ok, I finished putting everything together, turned it on and it booted right up with no problems, and WOW is it fast. I haven't found a game that It can't run. With Crysis I can run everything on high with anti-aliasing on 8x (this is in XP) at 1680x1050 (22in monitor). Adobe Photoshop runs really smooth as well. The only problem I had was my DVD player quit working after installing a bunch of stuff. I found out it was a corrupt driver in windows, so I searched Microsoft.com for a solution (it was a code: 39 error). I found that lots of other people were having the same difficulty, and the solution was to delete two entries in the registry which I did. After I restarted the computer the DVD player was working like new. The fix can be found here.

Oh, one other thing. Windows only recognizes 2.8GB of memory. Does anyone have a solution for this? I haven't the need the full 3.25GB yet, but someday I will, probably.

Other than that I have had no problems.

My final specs are:
EVGA NVIDIA nForce 780i 132-CK-NF78-A1

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale

ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler

EVGA GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 512-P3-N841-A3

CORSAIR 4GB(2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) (I was going to order the Crucial memory, but some how I got confused at the checkout, lol) TWIN2X40966400C5

Antec Nine Hundred

OCZ GameXStream 700W Power Supply

SAMSUNG Black 20X DVD+R SH-S203N

Thanks for all your help!

Glad its working for you, thats one heck of a fast system you got there. What Harddrive do you have? The lost memory might be attributed to Video Memory using system memory as texture storage, i wouldnt mess with it. Generally, you want the amount of System RAM dedicated to video memory to be the same as the size of the video memory on the card.

Yeh, I'm really happy with it. I want to build a PC that I could upgrade in future, but not too soon. lol I wonder how long it will last.... I have two 160GB Western Digital 7200rpm hard drives. One hard drive is dedicated to just the OS while the other one is partitioned into three partitions for Windows XP games and programs, Music and Pictures, and for Vista games and programs(for when I get Vista). I think that kind of helps it go faster too. what do you think?

meh... I would buy a new, big harddrive, since the new ones are alot faster. It is a good computer you got there. It will serve you well for many years to come i think.
