Unhappy PC has no power - power supply is ok

Hi, i need help with the following please,

I got a ASUS P4PE-X motherboard, with an Intel P4 2.8 cpu.

The problem is, when i got the computer, it had a bad power supply, so i pulled a working one from my other desktop and plugged it in.

When i power on the power supply, the green light on the motherboard is ON, and as i push the PC's own power button - nothing happens, the power supply's fan doesnt even spin, nor the CPU's fan spins.

I know for sure that the power supply is good, as i pulled it multiple times and plugged it into the other desktop and power ups.

Is it the wiring from the desktop's push button to the motherboard - possibly messed up?

im running out of ideas...

thanks in advance for any help.

Hi -- Welcome to PCHF

possible... it could also be the switch itself-- or the mobo/cpu is fried--the old PSU might have taken something else with it
In fact-- since the green "stand-by" power is working -- the board may be the issue-- do you hear any tiny beeps (POST-codes) when you press the power button ?? They are sometimes very faint-- tough to hear.

hi, thanks so much for the reply,

i listened very carefully - there are no beeps - nothing at all.
I took out everything from the mobo, theres just the cpu+fan on it and, and still the same thing.

As soon as i power up the power supply - the green light goes ON on the mobo, and when i press the pc button - nothing ever happens.

thanks again,

and also, even if the motherboard and/or the cpu were dead, shouldnt the power supply's fan still start spining?

What make of PSU is it ?-- some may be theromostatically-controlled... and don't start until the heat-sinks warm up. Seasonic Tornados-- I know do this so there are likely others.
