Computer DIY - Graphics buying posted in the Hardware forums; I would like to buy a new Graphics card cas at the moment i am running a nividea 8300 gs 128mb and it is depressing me with how rubbish it ...

I would like to buy a new Graphics card cas at the moment i am running a nividea 8300 gs 128mb and it is depressing me with how rubbish it .i want to purches a nivdea GeForce 8600GT SLI 512MB **** theres a problem, it says on nova tech that i sound have a 320 watt power supply and im pritty sure mine is 200 and somthing maybe 230 not sure. would it still work okay of i bought this grpahics card because according to my friend it wont affect anything but i want input of u guys becuse i think u all know abit more than him

I think that 200 is way to little to that configuration, but try this link and calculate how much you need:
eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite v2.5
according to the test only the graphic cards requires ca 110W

What make is your PSU? As generic, no-name brands tend to provide less wattage than what is stated. And I would normally add 50-100watts to the PSU calculator result to be safe.

I wouldn't I would buy a new PSU

my computers a pakard bell i dunno wha make my power supply is and im not even tha sure wha watt it is either. anyways of finding out ?

rite i think i worked this out
my power supply is 230 volts and is 2 amps to find the watts i belive you times the two making my power supply 460 watts

if anyone can confirm this for me i would really appriectiate it
