Question Graphics card issue

I currently have Nvidia GeForce 8600GT, i am looking to buy a new one, i am looking at the 8800GT, can anyone recomend a better one for the same price, cheers.

I dont think that comes into it mate, im looking for a gaming card and the 8800GT comes under budget and has had great reviews, im not that bothered about the memory on the card..LOL.

well the 8800gt is a very good card. had expeirences with it in work in the past. u can buy a overclocked version of it that has a faster bus speed and with the fast speed ddr3 ram and direct 10 it is perfect for gaming. hope tha helps x

Right, well no offence naked_dave i was looking for some help from someone with a bit more knowledge and you havnt really helped with my original post, you have just described the graphics card to me, even though i have watched and read many reviews, even though you havnt really helped thanks for your time.

Hello Ryanzilla, welcome to PCHF! @ DAVE> the amount of video memory is not necessarily a measure of performance. a bigger factor is the graphics chipset

Ryan, i recommend the ATi Radeon HD 3870. This one is really good, and its on sale. I use the Visiontek 3850 version of the card, and it absolutely destroys my old 8600GT, in benchmarks as well (see anandtech). And this one is much faster than that one.
