I have built my computer * GREAT!* turn on computer to install windows * SORROW* pc powers up for a minute and then turns it's self off. Does anyone know why this is happening?
Is their a cable i could be missing out - not plugged into right place or became loose
Is the pc damaged?
Is it something to do with the PSU?

Hello Teu3man, welcome to PCHF.

Does it shut down at random, what is the last thing you see on the screen? Also, can you list your PC specs?

Is it something to do with the Power Supply Unit?
The PC could be damaged, random restarts out of nowhere are a good sign sadly
As for your second question however, PSU's can fail or be strained to the effect that theyll just give out.
List the watts on your PSU, and your system specs also, so we can know if your PSU is adaquite.
Otherwise what could be going on is mobo failure. But if you get video response from the monitor and see something sent out from the computer, its a good chance its not the Mobo.
So. im putting my tack on the PSU, which 90% of the time causes random restarts, but we'll have to see for now.

Agreed SufferWell, but I'm not sure where you have got that information about PSU's causing 90% of random restarts. I have only once ever seen a PSU cause a random restarts, and this was a poor quality PSU where the fan had died.

Most random restarts are caused by overheating (GPU, CPU, Power Supply), normally when the temperature of these devices reaches it's threashold temperatures. Some devices will "throttleback" and reduce it's clock speed in order to cool itself down. Some will reboot, or both. But in reality, absolutely anything can cause a random restart, ranging from a bad device driver, to dips and surges in power (externally). Since Tru3man's problem occurs only after a few second of switching his PC on, this already narrows this list of problems down to PSU, CPU or Motherboard as you suggested.

It wouldn't happen to power on by itself as soon as you plug the power cable into the back would it? Also, does it power off after the same amount of time, each time 2 seconds?
