Default [Answered] Screwdrivers?!

Hey guys, I'm just waiting for the last parts of my PC to arrive, and I'm still a little confused on what type of screwdriver to use. Yes, I know its either a Phillips head or a Flat head screwdriver, but does it have to be non magnetic?

I have a screwdriver that does not attract metal, but it can be attracted by magnets, is this ok to use? or does it have to be completely non magnetic, not attracting or being attrated by metal..

Would appreciate a fast reply since the parts arrive in an hour or 2

Thanks and merry xmas

Hello Newtobuilding, welcome to PCHF.

To be honest, there's nothing wrong with using a magnetic screwdriver, or preferably, an ordinary screwdriver that has been magnetised.

Granted, there are some PC components which are sensative to the magnet, such as the hard drive. However, there really isn't that much magnatism in a screwdriver to cause any real damage as long as used properly. I would find it far more dangerous to lose a screw inside a PC because I didn't have a magnetic screwdriver. I don't think I could live without mine.

Ok, thanks to save opening a new thread and spamming the forum up with my stupid questions,

I have a SATA-II HDD, I can get hold of a SATA-II Data Cable, but does it matter if I used an ordinary SATA power cable to plug it up? or can I use SATA cables instead of SATA-II ones, really hard to find answers for this on the internet, and I wouldnt like to experiment

Yeah, there is only one type of SATA power cable, so your fine on that front.

If they were a good shop they would inform you that there is no such thing I'm always dropping screws in my PC lol, takes a while to get it back, last time they kept getting stuck in the hard drive cage (grrr).

Welcome to the Forums and have a good xmas

I've lost screws behind the motherboard tray and had to take off the other side of the case. That's worse than when I lost it in the cages.
