Ok, just finshed constructing a new pc with a p4 2.8ghz processor, a supermicro p4sct motherboard, 2 gig of ram, and somekind of vga video card, with a 200 gig hdd, and a dvd reader/cd-r. And to my suprise IT WORKED!! the start up screen pops up and says press del for bios setup and when you do that, bios comes up. if you dont do that and just let it try to boot it wont(obviously) and says "no boot disk, insert disk and press enter". So i guess the next step is to get an os? and.....

(I am entirley new to this whole building thing, I literally got the hdd, ram, processor, motherboard, video card, and misc cable free and spent 50$ on case, fans and heatsink. Then i just plugged it all in and it miraculously started so now i have idea what to do.)

Hi You sound lucky. The next step is to get an O/S XP or Vista and in the BIOS set it to boot from the CD/DVD drive and insert the O/S CD and save the BIOS settings and exit the PC will reboot and say press any key to boot of the CD/DVD drive so do that and your on your way follow the prompts on the screen.

now i have a dell suport cd for a dell that says "for use reinstalling windows xp pro including svp2" i doubt this will work seeing as how it is not a dell pc but is there any chance it might?

Yes it will most likely work see if it will boot off it has it got the cd key on it ?

well my friend has the cd key he left at his house i will try it.
