Exclamation [Resolved] I built my own pc at a fair and it doesnt work

I built my own pc at a fair and it doesnt work here are the specs :-)

Intel Core 2 Quad E6600
2GB DDR3 RAM 667MHz
ASUS p5K SE Motherboard
MSI NX8600GTS T2D Series Graphics card
320GB hdd

plus all other standard things

the problem is i plug in a monitor into my display port the manual says to put it in (an adapter is needed, which i have used) and when i turn my pc on to start setting it up the monitor doesn't detect the pc starting up and nothing is shown on the screen even though it is on, also i tired to go into bios to configure all that (my manual says press "del" to enter bios CMOS setup) but the monitor doesn't do anything and i tried putting windows xp home edition cd in but that doesnt work! My monitor is fine because it works with my old pc. I need help please help me with my problem

What's your Power Supply Unit rated at and do you have the 6-pin power cable plugged into the video card?

Ah my bad, 4-pin, and yes, 600W is plenty.

Make sure you've got the adapter screwed in really tight, I've had a few problems where my monitor wouldn't turn on, and it turned out that I didn't have the adapter on tight enough

Hmm.. I've never heard of a cable that goes from the motherboard to the video card.. There should be one that goes from your Power Supply Unit to the video card, the 4-pin cord (or 6-pin).

Should look something like this:

it sounds like he is saying the power connector is a Molex 4 pin, which wouldnt make much sense.....
