Okay, we'll try these for trial's sake.

2 of the motherboards here.

1. Silver sticker with VIA VT8237 and a chip with, in white, iTE IT8707F

2. White writing- VIA VT82C686A on a chip, and on the board itself M7VKB

Both have CPU socket 462.

Just 2 of the procesors, for the same reason.

1. AMD Athalon 64. ADA3000DIK4BI. CBBID 0508GPMW
2. AMD Athalon. AXDC2400DKV3C

did a google search on some of your motherboard #s. Looks like it's pretty old-school stuff. Socket 462 is deff. out-dated. Not even a pci slot. More or less junk.

this is what I got on your first processor: AMD Athlon™ 64 3000+, 1.8 GHz (ADA3000DIK4BI) OEM / Unboxed Processor Specs - DealTime
Kinda out-dated. But could still be useable. Just have to find a mobo in that pile with a 939 socket.

This is what I got for your second processor: Processor - 1 x AMD Athlon XP 2400+ / 2 GHz ( 266 MHz ) - Socket A - L2 256 KB -

not much goin there.

So far not much to brag about. I wouldn't get my hopes up too much with getting anything great out of the stuff. Might be cool to build a bunch of very basic computers and donate them to a high school or something. Tax write-off =awesome

Thanks dude. In all honesty, I'm not even trying to make anything good- or even up to date- I just want something that will actually work to a reasonable level (I'm used to >500mhz processors, and around 512mb RAM)

I may just grab the most useful individual bits, pick up a motherboard that will work with the processor, as cheap as I can, and build whatever.

Well specifically if the operating system on the pcs supports it make 2 pcs and cluster them. Then you would have both computers doing the tasks that normally are for one.

The athalon 64 (1.8ghz version) and about 512 RAM will make a nice PC to do stuff on from regular messaging to browsing PCHF, Dont bet on games though

If i had a box of parts i would experiment and just have fun and practice my abilities at building PC'S

Well yeah- that is what I think I'll end up doing with the bits and bobs.

My only major problem is that I only have 1 hard drive, that was in my old PC, so I'm gonna have to check if that works properly with what bits I have. It's small, so I think I'd end up shelling out for a decent sized one to supplement it.

As far as clustering them- I'd honestly have no idea where to start. I'm having enough trouble just building one!
