Default What do i need to buy?

hello. I am planning on buying a new computer as soon as i can . I need a computer that doesnt glitch or restart when i open up big VST (musical instruments in software) . I can play most of my Vst's fine, but i cant add effects, and editing is also very slow. Basically , im looking at 3 options.
1.Buy a new computer
2.Build a new computer
3.Get another not so good computer and use it with current PC with slave/master

This is a computer im looking at.it comes with a quad core processor and 160 gb HD for less than $900 Systemax Intel® Dual Core Based No OS Built-To-Order Intel® 975X Socket 775 Mid-Tower Desktop PC at TigerDirect.com

This is the "build myself" setup.
XFX GeForce 680i LT SLI Motherboard CPU Bundle - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor 2.40GHz OEM at TigerDirect.com
What else will i have to buy? and are there any parts that i can use from the computer i have already , so i wont have to buy them?

This is the computer i have Compaq Presario S5100NX Desktop PC -  Product Specifications  plus i have purchased memory so its at 1 gb of RAM, and i also have a RADEON 9250 card.

So please tell me what else i will need to buy for the "build myself" setup, and your overall opinions on what to do. thanks alot!

I would go with the systemax with at least 2 gigs of ram.

so youre saying that if i buy th motherboard and cpu package, and build it myself, it would end up being more expensive than just buying the systemax? thanks for the responses . but nobody has told me what things i would have to buy if i chose to build it starting with that motherboard and cpu combo. thanks

Yes thats right. I have built some computers on my own and I think that its not worth the time.. with computer prices where theiy are at. right now. Plus if you have any problems then it becomes a nightmare.. I built a computer 4 months ago for my son and I am still having problems with the sound card. When I factor in all the time I put into building it and debuging it I think I spent more then if I would have if i purchased an already built one.

I would breakdown the actual cost with my time included, but I dont want to make myself sick

With the upgrades I would choose-- that SystemMax system jumps to $1,419.00.
Systemax Intel® Dual Core Based No OS Built-To-Order Intel® 975X Socket 775 Mid-Tower Desktop PC at TigerDirect.com

depends on your budget-mostly-- but if you don't mind building you could do better in my opinion. I actually enjoy it, personally.
If you wish -- I will look at options for the build you chose later on today-- up to you. Have to work
The main thing with building is to choose parts carefully check on quality+compatibility of every part you want.
