Unhappy wireless blunder

I am having wirless problems. I am linked on a belkin setup. 2 wireless devices, laptop n desktop with another desktop connected by ethernet to belkin router. Laptop has belkin wireless g card and desktop has belkin wireless g mimo usb adapter. I have having alot of wireless disconnects and i cant get the network between all 3 pc to stay connected. Please help!!!!! !! The router and laptop is across the street at my friends house. They allow me to connect to their network for online use. The belkin router has a range of 400ft and my belkin mimo usb adapter has a range of 1000ft. I am not using the belkin software only the windows xp home software. I would like to use my own ip addresses. my pc has a 1.4ghz processor,512 ram. laptop has 128ram and 2.0ghz processor. What software would be the best to use for best performance of our wireless setup?

Hello Thunder and Welcome to PC Help Forum.

One thing to remember when working with wireless adapters is that the distances the manufacturer states is for line of site. Even then your signal degrades before the specified distances for verious reasons. When your connection is inside you must contend with walls and things like appliances (stoves, tvs, ect..) which degrade your signal more so you must be closer to the connection. Now...You have the walls of your home and your neighbor's next door. I believe the only way to get a firm connection is to move things closer or use range extenders to help boost the signal... Hopefully some has a better solution for you..
