Default Recent Build Query..

Recently purchased this motherboard bundle:

1 x MBB-AM351G Novatech Motherboard Bundle Athlon 64 3500, Heatsink and Fan, 1Gb DDR2 667 RAM, AM2 nVidia Mobo.

And connected a sata dvd rw, sata hd and a 380w PSU.

After trying to and successfully installing windows xp upon the hd after the restart the boot froze upon loading windows, displayed a fatal error and restarted. The boot then failed prior to reaching the booting of windows and displayed the "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter". I tried three different hard disks and each returned the same error, however each work within a different system.

Anyideas would be hugely appreciated

Hi -- Welcome to PCHF.
The power supply may be inadequate for that hardware--
I used the PSU calc in my sig-- just running what you told me about... it calls for 298W-- I usually add 100w to that total and go from there.
Is that the PSU that came with the case ??

You mean you swapped the hd's from 3 different installs into this one--??
that won't work Windows looks for it's familiar hardware at bootup-- if it's not there it shuts down automatically.

The first thing setup says is "checking hardware configuration" when you install Windows

I thought there maybe a problem with the harddisk i used, so i tried a different make and model by installing windows onto that, i then got the same error...

I can access windows in safe mode but not in normal mode for some reason as i get the boot disk error.
