Default How to sell old computer, and get a new one.

Ok so i know "how" to get a new computer. I just am wondering how id sell my old one and wheres the best place to sell it? I mean its pretty good for someone who wants to use it for music, video, internet, CAD, games, and much more but dosent want to spend a ton. Im thinking I can let it go for $400 OBO. And i think id also through in the 17" LCD for another $150 or what ever. Trust me iv got much more into it, but seeings how stuff is so cheap now I dont really think I could get more. Or could I?

Also is there a good place to get used or rather cheap laptops. I only looking to spend about $750 and would spend more if i can find someone to buy my old computer.

Well thanks alot, be back later to see what you have to say.

I get rid of all my "old" equipment on ebay. (i sell each component seperately, usually tend to make more this way).

Personally i'd try selling it on ebay. I myself do not have an ebay account but I know it is very popular and you're almost certain to sell it on there
As for buying a computer, i'm guessing you would prefer to purchase from a shop instead of a auction site?
Newegg.com - Buy Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! is very cheap and reliable. I have a few American friends who buy all their hardware from there.

Selling used PC hardware on ebay is a bit troublesome though. enless you got good feedback most will probably not buy it cos they'll expect the goods to be DOA (Dead On Arrival). So its vital that you really put alot of thought into the item description. make them buy in confidence. (also ensure the item(s) are very well packed. anti-static bags, bubblewrap. etc)

Ive spent quite a few hours talking with people who've brought my goods and basically screwed up trying to install it, then saying ive sent them faulty goods. i just try my best to help them out. usually i can solve thier problems quite quickly. othertimes its just thier own fault and they are responsible for the item being broke, in which case i make it clear that its hard luck and they will not be getting any refund.

Ive yet to recieve any negative feedback .

Personally i'd never buy used computer hardware. but thats just me. i like new shiney things to play with.

Hi there.

Just thought I'd quote some very useful advise from ih8bills, from another thread similar to this one

Of course the UK could be different.

I would also run a good disc-wipe program like DBan.
Especially if you ever entered Credit card # or bank acount passwords
they will still be there. Old HD's can be a rich source for ID theft.
