Lightbulb sata problem with 2 optical drives

someone please help this is driving me nuts ive just built a system with a HT2000 GeForce6100SM-M motherboard and AMD3600 processor running xp home with 2 ide optical drives and 2 ide hard drives.I put the hard drives on ide master and slave and had to use a conveter on the optical drives from ide to sata as there is only one ide socket on the board the shop didnt have a motherboard with 2 ide ports on. The problem is when i connect one drive to sata it finds the drive straight away and boots up windows mint, if i connect the second optical drive it takes ages to look for ide drives goes to the xp loading screen and freezes. if i go into bios with both optical drives connected it only shows one drive witch is the master optical drive. All sata ports are enabled bin on this all day arghhhhhhhhh cheers everyone

Default Re: sata problem with 2 optical drives

HI welcome to the forum the problem is that sata has no master or slave

With a Serial ATA interface, each disc drive has its own cable that connects directly to a Serial ATA host adapter or a Serial ATA port on your motherboard. Unlike Parallel ATA, there is no master-slave relationship between drives that use a Serial ATA interface.
