Unhappy [Resolved] WIndows XP CD Booting Problem

Hello. I currently have linux installed on a system. I am trying to install XP over the linux however the wireless keyboard seems to be giving me problems. The keyboard "transmittier" has a little light on it which tells me whether it is on or not. When The computer first starts up, the light is on suggesting I can press "Del" and get into setup. But once the part where I have to "Press any key to boot from CD..." comes up, the light turns off and no matter what I press on my keyboard, the linux will eventually load. It seems that I need to plug in a wired keyboard or something. Any suggestions?

By the way, setting the boot order does not do anything whatsoever it is currently set up as

1. Floppy
2. CD
3. HDD

Thank You.

Default Re: WIndows XP CD Booting Problem

Hello Marekszober Welcome to PCHF

Some wireless keyboards/mice won't function correctly prior to your operating system loading. It is always good to have a wired keyboard and mouse laying around. These days you can pick a set up for like 15 bucks.

I can't say I would know how to keep your wireless transmitter on during the entire boot process. It is probably just a flaw in their design. There isn't a way to bypass that "press any key to boot to CD" message. Its purpose is to prevent the CD from automatically being booted into during the operating system install process. Otherwise, you would just start the operating system install from the beginning over and over. It would never get to the part where it copies the OS files and sets up Windows for the first time.

Hope that helps!
