Default [Resolved] Fsb

I have just upgraded to a Intel E6850 Core 2 Duo Processor.

It seems that the default FSB is 333.

My Motherboard (Gigabyte 965P-DQ6 Rev 3.3) and the CPU are both supposed to handle 1333 Megahertz, but the default apparently is 333 megahertz. How do I adjust the FSB to 1333 Megahertz.

By the way, the box that the CPU came in says:
3 GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 1333 MHz FSB.

Does the memory restrict the FSB?
I have four DDR PC2-5300 memory strips.

Heya Gandalf,

Your system clock speed is 333mhz. The system clock is multiplied by the number of times data is accessed during a cycle to get you the front side bus speed. So in your case it is multiplied by 4 (quad pumped) which equals 1332mhz. Your CPU multiplier should be 3ghz / 333mhz = 9.

I'm pretty sure you're set up ok. Just check in Windows what your CPU speed is at in the Control Panel -> System. That will tell you if you have some problem with your clock settings.

Here is one of the better guides I have seen. Although, it is still all kind of confusing lol.

Thanks. I can always use some light reading.

I get the feeling that this is a case of hardware out distancing software.
Even the Gigabyte utility that I downloaded from their website - GIGABYTE - Support - Motherboard - Utility shows FSB as 333.0, but the ratio says 9. The PCI freq is 33.00. The Memory freq is 666.00.

I have a funny feeling that the 333 for the FSB is really 1333, but Gigabyte hasn't adjusted the window for a four digit number. Ergo, you get a reading of 333. Thanks, Gigabyte.

Has anyone found a good Vista compatable mobo System Utility monitor that can read a 1333 MHz FSB?
