Hi thanks.....but seriously my price range is like $800 - $900 which makes the buyin a little difficult if you know what i mean......well basically i thought a Core 2 Duo would be fine but I am real harcore multi-tasker than a gamer....jumping from Photoshop to Firefox (with +4 tabs) to uTorrent and at times Media Player or Adobe Reader at a time.....

Do you still think Core 2 Duo will be of my type....??

You said that the Quad Core was a power hogger but this MODEL# is BX80562Q6600....is it possible to tell if this is a B3 or G0 Stepping ???? bcoz i herd G0 Stepping consumes much less power....

oh yeah. even a pentium D or P4 would do. maybe an Athlon X2. dont owrry about quad core. i recently built my neighbor a powerful $700 computer. i can do the same for you.l i may be 15, but i know a lot about computers. A C2D would be overkill even for you. so. in a little while, i will post the list. dont owrry about power consumption. the Core2 series is very cool running and consumes very lowa mount of power compared to Pentium4s.

EDIT> I didnt mean it was a power hog, i meant it was a very powerful processor

lol i also only pick components which have high user ratings, because of reliability issues

EDIT- lol I only pick parts which have proven to be more reliable than others

Hey in the year we are in the age hardly matters...and Thanks !!...but i was wondering dont you think the q6 is a wise choice for a a guy (like me) who has no plans to upgrade once i comple my rig for the nxt 3 - 5 yrs.....considering that softwares like Photoshop is already making use of the processor.......

The plan i have for my rig............ is a nice case with atleast 3 fans, a good mobo, q6 processor, 2GB ram, a dvd-burner, 250GB drive.......and maybe a vdo card in the future and definately a sound card......you know a rig that is simple but capable of updates in future....

hmmm.... i can put together a ;list based on that.. but it will be a bit more expensive... teh q6600 is not what you need, i can tell you taht now... but, maybe a higher end C2 Duo. it will last for years, and for what you do, it will be plenty powerful. you dont need 3 fans, you just need a couple big, 120mm or 92mm fans.
