Default Stuttering DVD drive

Hi guys, hope you can help me.
My dvd drive suddenly stopped burning DVDS/CDs and when playing it would stutter badly. Thinking the drive was toast, I bought a brand new drive but the same problem persists.
I've run full spyware/virus programs and defragged the drive.

The computer is clean and the cables are secure and I've run this script
DMA reverts to PIO | Windows Problem Solver but nothing so far has made any difference.

I've also tried changing the SATA cable and changed the SATA slot

I don't know if it makes any difference but in my bios BIOS, under main I have the following

Primary and secondary master/slave all set to none, and in their sub menu PIO mode, UDMA mode, Primary IDE master and access mode are set to auto

Under SATA 3 (where the DVD drive is located) has Ex. IDE drive and access mode set to auto (where choices are auto or none)

And HDD smart monitoring is disabled

Can anyone suggest a solution?

ANY help appreciated

My OS is Win XP pro black

Hello preachermuaddib and Welcome to PC Help Forum.

We would love to help you, but XP Pro BLACK is an illegal OS and, therefore, we can not help you. If you have other issues not related to XP Black, then we would love to help. But we don't handle illegal OSs.

My OS is Win XP pro black
I cannot find any reference at Microsoft's website regarding Win XP Pro Black.

However I have found, on Google, that it is a warez release, so I suggest you re-read these again.

It's either a warez release, or it's a release given to certain companies for work purposes, which is how i got mine, completely legally and above board.
xp pro black is a generic term, usually meaning xp pro without certain security protocalls.

preachermuaddib, XP Pro Black is an ILLEGAL OS, only available as a Warez release. They call it "Black" because it comes with pirated programs, themes, etc. and Windows files that are modified. You should get a genuine copy of Windows XP, which Black is not. Again, please re-read the rules about Warez and that Warez can and will damage your files. We can't help you any further until you get a genuine copy. Thanks.

Ok, well my work bought these versions of windows directly from microsoft for everyone in our dept because several of our in house programs will not work on a standard copy of windows. It's legal and registered with microsoft (with everyone in our dept)

I did contact MS tech support but they insist that it's not an OS problem

But I understand if you have to be careful, thanks anyway, I'll search for help on another forum.
