Hello to those reading.
My two DVD drives, a DVD rom and DVD R, have mysteriously vanished from my computer. I have gone through the XP_CD-DVD-Fix.exe and a similar fix from the Microsoft help site. I have run CCleaner to make sure nothing was causing an issue there and have run my virus scan (AVG free edition) to ensure nothing hiding. I have also reinstalled my motherboard driver to see if that would fix it.
I believe I know where the problem lies here, but not sure how to fix it. My device manager is registering a code 12, not enough resources for my IDE channels, now for the catch. I am registering two "Primary IDE Channel" and two "Secondary IDE Channel" devices. It is also registering two "NVIDIA nForce 430/410 Serial ATA Controller" and two "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller". Something about all the duplicates seems odd, but maybe that is just me. All four of the IDE Channel devices have the "Code 12 This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use." problems.
My Specs:
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600
Asus P5N-E SLi
2 GB Ram
Geforce 8800 GTX
2 500gb Sata hard drives (non raid)
Other things I have tried:
Uninstalling doubling occurences of IDE Channels, but windows finds all 4 again.
Uninstalling IDE Channels and main board drivers. On restart all IDE channels return.
So in the end, I am at a loss and really don't feel like running a full reformat
. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
