Pending: Lightscribe Drive Error

I've been getting this error each time I open Nero to burn a disk.

Lightscribe error. A communication error has occurred with the Lightscribe drive. Please restart your computer and try the label again.

Restarting my pc doesn't fix the problem. Will reinstalling anything help? I'd try that, but I have misplaced my Nero disk. Thought I'd just post here to ask advice while I hunt up the disk.

do you have a lightscribe drive installed ? silly question i know but sometimes drivers are shipped with this feature although the drive in ? is not equiped with lightscribe technology

Yep, it's an official Lightscribe drive. a Samsung. One of my boys has a Lightscribe drive as well, although not a Samsung. I liked his so much I got my own. It was working fine, so I don't know what could have happened for it to quit working.

Never fails though....just when I have some paying projects to do....

you can look up your serial number in nero and note it down, then uninstall nero reinstall it from the nero site perhaps? A reinstall of the program might just do the job!
You should be able to find the version of nero you have on this page: Old Version of Nero Download

Found the disk and reinstalled. The problem still exists.

Maybe it's just this program?

try running this diagnostic tool to see if it finds any problems

Just go to Lightscribe.com and download the latest Lightscribe System Software (currently LS_Update_1.18.10.2_.exe), install, then restart and that should do the trick. You may have to restart once more time if still receiving the same error message after lauching whatever CD/DVD burner program you use.
