Default Lightstribe DVD/CD Burner Trouble(Game Too Big?)

So I formated my computer a long time ago. A couple months ago I decided to re-install one of my favorite games, Dark Messiah. The game is rather big. Anyways, once I put it in, it read it fine. I installed it, but somehow the files were not all there. So I un-installed then took the disc out, put it back in. It did not read it AT ALL. So I thought, screw it, I'll come back to it later. So now, a couple days ago I bought Grand Theft Auto: San Adreas and Need For Speed: Prostreet off of Best Buy. I come home and insert Need For Speed: Prostreet into the DVD Rom or whatever its called. It does not read it. So I put it in a junk computer and it works. So I've tried scanning my computer with Ad-Aware and Defraged my HD. Still nothing. So I decide to try Grand Theft Auto. Installs perfect and works fine. No problems at all. So now I'm starting to wonder why it wont work. Its making me really mad because it wont let me play. Some computer specs: Windows XP 2GB Ram 150GB HD and about 20-25GB left of space Lightscribe DVD/CD Writer Thats about it =/ Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to PC Help Forum.

Try updating the device drivers for this lite scribe via device manager or the manufacturers website.

Hi Cetol.

Run us through what happens when you put the disk in and what you've tried doing from there.

Have you tried opening My Computer, right clicking the DVD drive, and exploring the CD?

Just wondering if it could be something to do with the auto play - I've had problems with the auto play not working on various games.

Does the disk spin at all when you put it in the drive?

Nick.

Alright.
I'll listen to if it spins next time.

What usually happens:
I put it in, close the drive. I open My Computer and wait.
Nothing happens then I go over it and click open, it shows nothing.
I get mad, hold myself back from destroying my computer, then open the tray take the disc out and put it back in the case.

Also, some useless information that probably wont help,
I downloaded SpyBot S&D and found 4 infections and cleaned then.
Even after that nothing works.

I believe my dad also said he thought he heard it spin.

Alright I found my driver information if that will help.

Driver Version: 5.1.2535.0
Driver Date: 7/1/2001

I'll try updating it from Device Manager now.

Update:
It said it was already up to date

OK, I think I did hear it spinning.

When I go into My Computer it says DVD Rom Drive (D

Everyone now and again I will see a little CD/DVD mouse cursor.
After that, My Computer says its a CD Rom Drive.
I right click and open and nothing is there.

What's the make and model of your drive and what type of disk is the game on? (ie. DVD-ROM/DVD-R/DVD+R, should say on either the disk or the case).

May also be worth getting a lens cleaning kit and giving that a try - they're relatively inexpensive.

Nick.
