Smile CD-ROM Installation

Hello people. Please help me a little bit. I have an old computer, laptop, Dell Inspiron 1200, sitting in my table drawer, I use it only in any case of this computer is busy with something. In the past, when it was my primary PC, my optical drive (CD-R/DVD) drive had failed, so I changed the drive. I bought another drive on Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!. I just had to test out a CD, if everything OK with it, will it be read on another pretty old PC. As I discovered, the driver that is for this drive, is not installed anymore. The CD-R/DVD doesn't show up in the Device Manager. Now, I have NO clue what kind of a drive is it. But I need to reinstall the driver for that optical drive. But how?? I don't even know what the brand of the drive is!! Please help me!!
Thank You

Hello ilyabyk83,

on the top of the CD rom there should be a model #. this will tell us what type of component it is. then we can get the proper driver for you.

When the laptop starts up it has a black screen with white words on it.This is post screen. It will show say memory, processor etc.Is your CD/DVD rom drive listed on this screen?

Bios,to enter Bios you restart the computer and on the post screen it will say "Press ?to enter setup" This could be Del or F1 or F2 it should say on your post screen.

Bios is the area were you set up hardware on your computer. It lists a lot of items including boot order/load fail safe defaults/etc.
