Default DVD/CD Drive Cant be found

hi there! I have the same problem. My dvd/cd-rom drive can't be found for some reason. Is there any way to fix this? would uninstalling be helpful? the drive can't read any discs so i'm at a dead end. it's the only dvd/cd rom drive i have installed in my computer.

the error that appears - "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

I really would appreciate any help. thanks!

Default Re: Old DVD/CD-ROM on different pc

Hi
if you have more than one drive make sure one is set to Master and one is set to SLAVE in the correct IDE channel.

A Code 10 error usually occurs due to:
  • Missing device driver
  • Malfunctioning device driver
  • Incomplete device driver files
If the device due to which the error has occurred contains the value FailReasonString in its hardware key, then this string is displayed as an error message. Otherwise, the device displays the following error message:
This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed. (Code 10)

Hope this helps
