hello, my family just purchased a used compaq computer running xp pro. i recently installed the sims game, but the cd will not read the cd anymore. we have tried installing four different expansions but we can only manage to get the cd spinning 1 out 50 times. so far it is just the sims cds that dont work. the drive, according to system information, is mitsumi sr244w. system model compaq evo d510 e-pc. x86 based. if anyone has any ideas or have experienced something like this please help. thanks.

Hello,firstly have you reinstalled drivers for the CD rom?

Have you checked inside that it is connected correctly as in cables fully pushed in?

i just tried googling the driver but cant find any reliable sites that have it. also, since its not my pc and is manufactured, i would rather not open it up. its one of those annoying small horizontal pcs so im not sure if id even figure out how to open it lol. another thing, xp is not activated yet but still has 22 days left.

Then activate windows please.
