Have you tried going into the BIOS and ensuring your drives are all correctly recognized?

It sounds as though your CD drive may possibly have been incorrectly labeled in the BIOS.

Firstly though, you could try using system restore to a time when the problem was not present.

Also, try and remember roughly when the problem started and what you may have installed/uninstalled just prior to the problem.

Thanks for your help but all seems good in the Bios, Have tried the recovery disc but it is still there. It seems that I can use the cd/dvd drive it can write to cd and can read of it but this warning keeps coming up saying that it's not installed. the system has dvr software installed which it runs on bootup and everything seems ok with that the systemms appears to work ok just this warning??? No one had access to settings when the fault occured?

When exactly does the error message occur?
Is it while the Windows login process is taking place? ie: desktop / taskbar loading, etc.
Is it a standard Windows error message with a large red X ?

Have you had a look in Event Viewer to see if there is any more information on the error in there? (Right click My Computer / Manage / System Tools / Event Viewer / System)
