system restore wasnt working, i dunno why but didnt work, each time i tried to restore it gave me n error so after trying to restore a couple of times with out succes i deleted the restore points

the CD/DVD rom drive is not too old i got the laptop in november n is a laptop that was released by toshiba in october

Ok if I had this problem I would try the following?

Update drivers.

Uninstall driver or roll back driver.

Uninstall CD/DVD rom drive and reboot.

Try a repair install.

System restore.Please could you check to see if system restore is actualy enabled and at least 3%?
Right click on my computer scroll to properties and open,on system restore tab could you check whats the setup?

As the laptop is fairly new I would be rining the company whome you bought it from or take it back to shop to be repaired or replaced.

I would demand it to be fixed free of charge and done ASAP.

i think system restore is not enabled cuz when i checked it gave me n error , i guess when i disabled some of the services i disabled something related to system restore

where can i find the driver for this DVD rom ??

i wish i could take it to the factory or return it , but i cant i live in colombia n i ordered it from the US , i also wish i could replace the DVD rom but here is really expensive everything cost 50 to 100% more than in the US n our incomes r little

I had to have my DVD drive replaced, unfortunately.

If you google your laptop model, you might be able to find out instructions how to take it apart.
I even went on eBay and bought a service manual for my neice's old laptop and i was able to tear it down completely.
On many laptops the CD/DVD drive is easily removed by just pulling it out the side.
You can pull it out and reseat it to see if that helps.
But also if you can just pull it out then you can easily buy one that is compatible and install it yourself.

Unless you buy it at eBay!!
I have a Dell and the CD/DVD drive just pulls out. On my neice's 2 gateway computers there are a few screws, nothing serious.
What brand/model do you have?

my laptop is not 8 month old , my laptop is 5 months old, the warranty is for one year but i cant send it to the US again , too complicated , too expensive n takes a lot of time, btw i bought from amazon

I think what he meant was that he removed and replaced his drive-- which is certainly possible. There are laptop disassembly help-sites. With pictures/repair maunuals, etc

I don't think you are going to be able to repair it. I am talking about finding another one and replacing it.

I did a Google search on PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K17LF and there are people that have had the drivers just disappear or are not installed which may also cause your problem.
Go into the device Manager and see if you have any question marks on any of the devices listed.
