Default CD Drive Conflict with Ethernet Card installed

When Ethernet (PCI) Card installed on Asus A7S333 MB I'm unable to open CD Drive's door. Remove Ethernet card and CD drive works normally. Replaced Ethernet card into another PCI slot and got the same results.

Also looking at Device Manager in Win XP Pro... No ethernet card... it shows CD drive. Install ethernet card and it shows in Device Mgr. but CD drive does not.

Anyone have an idea as to the conflicts between the two?

Hello, im sorry for the delay in answering your post. Im not an expert on these conflicts, but it could be an IRQ conflict, which would be strange. Go into your BIOS on startup, find the IRQ settings, and set all to AUTO. if this doesnt help, let me know and well work on it from there.

Default Re: CD Drive Conflict with Ethernet Card installed

Good Evening AW_3_3

SEt all drives to Auto in Bios ... No help.

Green light on CD drive blinks on startup but still unable to open door with nic card installed. CD Drive has a IRQ location of "0" ... Ethernet card"s device location is IRQ 9. This according to the Properties windows of each in the device mgr.

Cheers,

golfnguitar
