Default no cd drives???

im not showing any cd drives on my computer. i have a cd drive and a dvd/cd drive. i have ever got these to work right after a format. ive scowered for the right drivers and assumed i found them. but i have never got them to work together at the same time. i recently tried to switch the cables that are connected to them internally. they were on the same but never worked together. how should theses be hooked up properly. i have a hard drive(of course) 1 rom drive, 1 dvd rom drive, and a 3 1/2 floppy or whatever it is.what is the correct wiring for them?
thanks jonny

The 2 cd drives can be on one IDE cable. Make sure one is Master and the other is Slave. There'll be jumpers onthe drives to do this. HDD can be on separate cable. FDD is again on separate cable too. IF your cd drives are not working, try another IDE port on your board, or try another IDE cable??

ok so theri is three ports on the motherboard. on is directly to the hdd one to the floppy and one sharing the two cd drives. the cable that has the two cd drives on it has three plugs one says motherboard. easy enough then the middle one says slave then the last says master. any certain ways i should connect the slave and master. any specific order i mean dvd drive to the middle one or just the cd drive?

The best way to connect them would be to make the DVD drive the master and the CD drive the slave.

Make sure the jumpers on the drives are set to master or slave respectively then connect the cable with the master to master, slave to to slave.

u have to check your jumper setting on the two drives. either set them according to master or slave, or set them to cable settings which means the cable will detect the slave/master drive and set them accordingly.Hope it helps. you can also check your bios setting. see if the bios detect your drives. normally i would set the bios as auto detect the drives.

Are the drives showing in Device Manager? If they are showing in device manager then right click the drives and select uninstall. Reboot your computer and see if they show up then. If they're still not showing up try the following. iTunes and some other programs can cause this problem the fix below usually works when all else fails.

It involves editing the registry so make sure you make a backup before making any changes.

Click Start > Run > Type: Regedit > Click OK

Go to the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Double click UpperFilters and Delete All Value Data, repeat for LowerFilters
Do not delete the Key or the Multi-String Values. Delete only the data values.
Exit Registry and Reboot

Let me know if both of the above don't work.
