Question Disc drive problems

Ok, so I was wondering if any of you could help me out here....
I had this problem with my previous pc so I was wondering if its the same....

Well, I Haven't ran any cd's/cd roms in about a fortnight, which was a cd I had bought, and it played perfectly. I left the cd in overnight when I turned off the pc, and the next day when it came to wanting to listen to it again, it wasn't being detected. I didn't think any more of it and pretty much forgot about the incident.

But, yesterday, I bought the WoW Burning Crusade expantion, and put the first disc in the drive and when it didn't run, remembered the problem with the cd. I tried several other cd roms, cds and dvds, none of which were picked up, so I guessed my disc drive was broken and needed replacing (Which is the same problem as I had with my old pc)

The only difference being, this being a newer pc, the drive is a cd/dvd re-writer and on my old computer it wasn't. I decided in desperation to place a blank disc in and see if I could burn anything onto it. Upon putting this into the drive, it was detected, and I could burn songs onto it. So I'm a bit confused as to whether or not my disc drive is actually working or not, being as the only thing it detects is blank discs.

Anyone got any ideas??
I'd be greatfull if you did =)

-Jade.

Make sure disks you are using are clean and not damaged,if its burning cds then it is working.
