Default DVD player doesn't read any disk

Hi,
I have a problem with my dvd-rom drive (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA 4082B), it doesn't read any dvds or cds. However, when i put a cd in, it does change the name on my computer to cd rom drive, I have tried everything, updating the driver, rolling back the driver etc. searched everywhere, have found that there is a problem with this drive and Nero (which I was running), anyway, would appreciate if someone could help

by the way it doesnt say there is an error, it says the device is working properly

Thanks in advance
Kaneac

Had the same problem more than once. Found that turning off the PC and starting up again (not just a restart) can resolve the problem in most cases. Also, using cheap DVD media can sometimes cause it to happen

Are you using any software?you could try an uninstall the DVD drive VIA device manager then a reboot found new hardware would pick it up and install it.
