Ive had my computer for about Five years now, Its a Windows XP Home Edition 2002 Model with a 2.66GHz processer, 1GB of Ram, and a CD/RW Drive, and DVD-Rom Drive. Now I seem to be having some problems with the drive as of today. Im really hoping its not broken but here goes.

I recently went to Best Buy and bought a game (Dawn of War Platinum Edition.) Came with one CD that had all the stuff on it and so I brought it home, put it in the CD/RW Drive and waited....Nothing happened. Didnt even establish that it was there other than the little green 'reading disc' light would blink for a while then nothing.

So I tried my DVD-Rom drive with it and same thing, little green light would flicker and flash, but to no avail. I would get asked to Insert A Disc into Drive.

Im at a loss here, because it reads both drives just fine. Ive never hit, or Dropped my computer, and I dont know if I have the funding for a new CD Drive.

Please help!

Hi welcome to PCHF if the drives read other CD's / DVD's it must be a faulty disk have you tried it in another PC?

Yes the drives read certain other CD's like Music, it has trouble Reading DVD's though.

Something new came up, I got an error saying that the Disc is not Formatted.

Its a little error that reads

"Windows cannot read the disc. The Disc may be corrupted, or may be written in a format that is not compatible with Windows."

Need to try the CD in an other PC to be 100% sure but I would say the game disk is faulty not the drives should be able to get it replaced from where you purchased it.
