OK here goes
I am trying to sort out my data back up disks (DVD's and CD's) with out much success. I can turn on my PC and every thing seems fine, put in Disk_1 of my back ups to check what’s on it, and the drive reads it ok, Then starts the problems, I close Explorer, take out the disk from the drive, put in a different disk, and it still shows what was on the first disk, it doesn’t matter if you put in a dvd or cd it still has all the same data in explorer as was on the first disk, the only way round this is to shut down my pc leave it for 15 mins and then reboot, it doesn’t always work if you just restart. It seems as if what’s on the first disk gets stuck in the memory some how and you have shut down and reboot to clear it.
Any help on how to cure this would be appreciated.

Hello bob, welcome to PCHF.

The symtoms your experiencing (believe it or not), is normal. The information on the last CD you put in is "cached" to save time loading the CD again. That information will remain there until the new contents is loaded into memory. You can also go to View, followed by Refresh.

If the new contents are not being loaded, then this would mean that there is a problem reading the disk you have just put in the drive. Make sure that the CD that your using is clean and unscratched. Also remember that copied CD's have a limited shelf life, and are much more vunerable to things such as temperature.
