I put a CD into the CD ROM and my computer stopped responding, when i pressed reset i had trouble booting up and could only do so when i used the "last known configuration that worked" and still it took a long time. Now the CD ROM door wont open and whenever i click on the CD ROM icon in My Computer the system stops responding. Ive opened the device manager but it does not detect a problem but when i double click on CD ROM once again the system stops responding. Ive ran Mcafee and NOD32 anti-virus and it does not detect any threats.

Hi,

I guess the first thing to do would be to uninstall the CD-ROM and then reinstall it. You should be able to get drivers from the net. Report back once you've gone through this, and let us know if it's working or not - by the way, it's probably worth restarting the computer between uninstalling and reinstalling the drive.

I cant seem to find the driver i need (sata h16x) do you know where i can find it?

Hmmm... could you be a bit more specific about the make and model of the drive? I think SATA h16x is just the generic type of drive; having the make and model would really be useful.

The safest way to get this is to take the drive out of the computer and read off the make and model from the case.
