Question [Answered] cd rom dvd burner

iam not sure what my problem is but believe that the c/d rom dvd burner died, i want to install a new one and have removed the side and two screws and depressed the green tab on a prescario desk top, the dvd door will not allow the dvd burner to slide out is there a way to remove the door without breaking the plastic hinges.

Hi Mark, welcome to PCHF.

I believe with the Presario's, the drives slide outwards rather than inwards?

yes you are right, but its the door that the dvd slides out of with the hinges that is higher than the dvd drive and iam unable to remove this door to slide the drive out.

I think I know what you mean. It's not the door you want to remove. It's much easier to remove the entire front facia of the PC. Depending on the model of your Presario, and if it's desktop or midi-tower, the desktop just has two tabs either side of the PC, which unclip and the facia will come away freely. If it's a midi tower, there are normally six clips inside the PC, and you need to push these in for the facia to free.

EDIT: Marked as Answered.
