Hey guys, I've been having an awful week with computers...

So, my issue right now is that my cd/dvd rom just stopped working..

See, I've been trying to re-install windows on my laptop, but because of that annoying floppy requirement for SATA drives blah blah blah... That's not even the problem anymore.. To get right down to it, the BIOS recognises that I have a Phillips CD/DVD PATA drive... it was working, and then all the sudden it stopped.. In the matter of inbetween re-boots it just stopped. I've already ruled out that it is jammed, so what do you think could be the problem?

Is there any way you can test the drive in another laptop? ..that way we'll be able to rule out a fault with the unit.
