Having trouble with my DVD drive for a long time now. It first started with my LG multi burner. Any time i went to burn a dvd or cd it would just stop. I then installed an ASUS Multi burner. with the Asus anytime i opened a new page in firefox or IE the door would open the close again with another page and so on. Its really bugging me. Only way i can stop it is to disable the drive and restart then enable it again once restarted and i can burn and surf in comfort but its a hassle to be honest. Any help would be brill!!

Do you have an Anti virus product installed?

yea i got avg and zonealarm and have run countless programs the latest being spybot and ccleaner. have run other ones that look for trojans etc before

Do you have the ability to try another drive, just to rule out a hardware fault?

with the other drive it doesnt open but if im halfway thru a burn it will just stop burning so i can safely say its not hardware

So with another DVD drive in your PC that drive door doesn't open? Surely that would point to the original drive being faulty......?!
