Default [Resolved] PC not starting up because of drive.

I have a particularly old extra cd drive on my pc that I don't use. and is pretty much idle. When I opened my pc one time, it just opened by itself, and now I can't get past the startup screen. I tried pressing DEL but my keyboard's not responding to it. Now everytime I turn on my PC, the drive opens, and I'm stuck there...

Help?

Hello kay, Welcome to PCHF!

What is the last thing you see on your screen when your PC freezes? Also, have you tried unplugging the CD-ROM drive to see if your PC will boot up normally?

Hey Kay,

I think you definately need to disconnect that CD-ROM. You should have "IDE Channel 2 Slave" appear. It's very simple to disconnect, there are two cables plugged into the back of the drive. A 4 pin connector and a ribbon cable. Simply remove these and see if your PC will boot up normally?
