Ok well I've been trying to get the DVD drive in my laptop to work since I got it a couple months ago and I've now been through three drives and each one has had a problem.

Drive 1: Cuts out when the drive is touched. It'll be running ok then I'll just move the computer and the drive will be bumped lightly and the drive will just cut out. Something I've never seen happen on my old laptop drive. Reads and writes without problems but has the issue with cutting out.

Drive 2: Reads discs perfectly, does not cut out when bumped, but will not burn any discs. Fails every time.

Drive 3: Same problem as drive 1.

I'm thinking it could be a problem with the connection on the inside of my computer causing it to cut out, but if that's the case I'm wondering why drive 2 never had that problem. My friend has the same laptop so we're going to try my current drive (drive 3) in his laptop to see if it cuts out.

What do you guys think the problem is though? Is it the computers fault or am I just having terrible luck with these drives?

Well what is the brand of the laptop and the dvd drive?

The laptop is an HP Pavilion dv8320ca and the DVD drive is an LG HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4084N.
