It is compatible. Go to http://uk.lge.com/ and on the left pane of the site click on Software Downloads. For product select DVD-ROM, for OS select Vista, and in the search box put GSA-E40N. It will give you the link to the page you need to download the firmware for the drive. Follow the instructions it gives.

Good luck,
Adam

Hi, stupid question here but, is the drive plugged into the computer? It should recognize it.

yes it is, its a usb connection. When i had xp running, all i did was plug it in to the pc, and i was off! This time nothing comes up saying its been recognised, if i go to device manager, it is listed as an unknown device and driver details say there are no drivers installed

Default external drive

Hi, my pc wont recognise my hard drive, it is an LG USB external drive. When i plug it in, windows detects it, but it says its an unknown device and it does not show in my computer. I have an internal dvd drive also, could there be a conflict of some kind? My O/S is vista ultimate. Thanks
