I have a Toshiba laptop and the dvd drive is broken. So I connected a maddog dvd drive with a usb to ide connector. I am trying to system restore. The drive is working fine but when the screen comes up and ask about deleting all my files and then you say ok the system restarts and just restarts and does not take me to the screen with all the black and white writing. My guess is that since the drive is on usb its loosing power and connection with the computer for a few seconds as the computer restarts and then instead of bringing up the restore computer screen it just restarts normally.

If anyone has any tips I greatly appreciate them.
