Hi

just got my new pc. I get no sound when i play music cd or movie dvd. the sound cable is connected correctly and volume turned up where it is supposed to be and all i get is static.

please help

I had the same problem. I had to re-install Windows XP. When it finished, there was sound. If you don't mind losing all your data, then try re-installing Windows. Before you do that, BACK UP YOUR DATA!

just installed windows have an empty system so i dont know

thanks i installed a second dvd rom and now both have sound, crazy but its all ok now thanks

Thanks for the update--sometimes weird problems with hardware recognition/drivers are resolved in weird ways.
