Hi

just got my new pc. I get no sound when i play music cd or movie dvd. the sound cable is connected correctly and volume turned up where it is supposed to be and all i get is static.

please help

I had the same problem. I had to re-install Windows XP. When it finished, there was sound. If you don't mind losing all your data, then try re-installing Windows. Before you do that, BACK UP YOUR DATA!

just installed windows have an empty system so i dont know

thanks i installed a second dvd rom and now both have sound, crazy but its all ok now thanks

Thanks for the update--sometimes weird problems with hardware recognition/drivers are resolved in weird ways.

What happened is that your driver for your new DVD drive was compatible with the other DVD drive's driver, and when you connected the new drive, it automatically searched for drivers for it, and when it brought up the driver, it was compatible with your other DVD drive too and it applied both. This is especially true if the drive came with a disk.
