Post Wasn't sure where to put this... BUT HELP!

I'm not sure if this is the right section for this problem but if it isn't please move it.

Heres my problem:

My laptop was really messing up, so i decided to redo the whole thing by using the complete system restore disc provided by the company of the laptop.

[ Info about my CD Drive: It wasn't working to play games, it would get in the middle of something and say, " Cannot read disc ". But this was with many different discs so it wasn't the certain disc. ]

In the system restore package, there were 3 discs. I put in the first one in and it finished wiping everything out. It then said to put the second one in, so i did. When i put it in it didn't do anything and kept saying to put in disk number 2.. which was in there. I restarted the computer by holding down the power button and turned it back on and nothing was showing up, so i put in the first CD again to boot up the system restore again.. but nothing has came up.

I went to wal-mart and bought an external CD drive [ Ez Dub ] I put in the first CD and it showed me a screen that explained what it was going to do and said press F8 to continue. I pressed F8 and it kept saying, "Cannot read Drive Q".

I have no idea what to do! If you can help me i would be soooo greatful!. Thank you

Howdy Jaysir and Welcome to PC HelpForum..

Have you gone into your BIOS and made sure it is booting off your cd drive or the external.. Think you have to press F10 to get to the boot menu..

yes, I forgot to put that in. I did go into the Bios and change it from CD/DVD to USBCD for the external drive.

Alright is the disc scratched?
upon reboot press F10 by itself and choose your regular cd drive..To boot. Just to see if it will read it from the F10 menu instead of going through the BIOS

Sorry but that makes absolutely no sense =/

The disk isn't scratched.
And when i use the external CD drive, it does what it does without me having to go into a bios. It just shows up when I start up.

And i can't use the normal CD drive, because it is broken.
