Hey Guys,

@DAR - Great find , but please always make sure to give instructions for creating a Registry backup with all regedit advice.

I'm curious about this fix, is the problem caused by a virus, (a guess based on the change in the reg entries to profanity)? If so, did the PacBell site give any further information about what malware might have caused this?

@TFF - DAR always does great research, I think this fix may work perfectly for your situation, just please always do the following before making any changes to your Registry.
After opening Regedit, click on File, Export, name the file today's date, and choose either your desktop or other easy to locate spot to save the file. Choose All as Export Range, then click OK.
It is also extremely important that you follow instructions exactly when making changes in the Registry, you can inadvertently damage your PC if you arbitrarily start deleting or changing things.

Looking forward to how this works for you.

no no the change to "profanity" was just a result of the line break when i pasted the text. the "CL" in class got seperated from, well, the rest of the word and as a result was picked up on the forum as another word entirely.

Yes I'll make sure I do that in the future...apologies for that.

Hey TFF!! That's GREAT!!

Listen, I am going to move this new question to it's own thread. This really belongs in the software forum. I will name it PhotoImpact 10 install problem.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Hey Guys,

Just for continuity sake, here is the post from The Flash Fairy regarding the other issue,

My PhotoImpact 10 application which I have been using for ages has stopped running. This was why I initially uninstalled it and then tried to install it, which led to me finding out that my CD/DVD drive wasn't working. Now this is fixed, I have reinstalled my PhotoImpact 10 application but each time I open it it freezes and I get the message saying the program has encountered a problem and has had to close, sorry for inconvenience blah blah with the option to send an error report. I don't know why this is happening. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice now. Any ideas? is there anywhere I can look on my system to find out if there are any errors with this application? I have virus scanned it and it says there are no viruses. Help!!!!

TFF xxx

Yay, officially my first fix since being back on staff.

Brings a tear to my eye.

On a more serious note. I'm glad that worked. Now we'll have to see what we can do about that photo program.
