Default CD/DVD rom splits

Hey all

Has anyone notice the small hairline cracks that appear on some cd/dvd roms that have the "push button" case (With just two clips, top and bottom) ive taken a picture here:

Notice it?....i know your probably thinking i'm making a fuss over nothing, but not too long ago my Unreal Tournament 2004 had this exact same problem, i thought nothing of it at first, till my cd drive ejected the CD in pieces (seriously).

the exact same thing happend with a copy of TES: Oblivion, in fact, the pic i took above is ALSO Oblivion, my 2nd copy!. Ive already ordered a 3rd copy to replacethis one before my drive eats it....

This is costing me a small fortune, so i thought i'd just warn you guys about this (although i'd bet no-one else is getting this as bad as i am...) check over your favourite games, and tell me if you notice any breaks.

I was thinking of ordering some empty DVD cases, but with a small foam circle thingy to stick the CD/DVD on (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas case had this) but ive yet to find any yet, if someone could point some out to me i'd really appreciate it.

Yup, this is a common problem with dvds...

The actual problem is - the way they are "forced" out of the container..
I don't mean that in any derogitory (spelling) way at all.

All my DVD's that I have in those cases (close to 500 for movies alone) are all in good condition...even though one of them (Spaceballs) is in and out of the case so often it's amazing.

I'm guessing you push the button while pulling the disc out at the same time?

PS. Just noticed that you have the faceless monster from Spirited Away as your avatar...love that movie
PPS. There are worse ways to spend your money other then replacing the DVD of an extremely well made game that is just so worth it

I used to, till my Unreal 04 disk was destroyed (due to this i imagine) since then i always remove one clip at a time before taking the disk out, to make sure it doesn't put the cd under any stress.

In fact, sinse my last Oblivion dvd was destroyed (which again, i think was because of this) ive always kept this copy in my dvd rom drive, so i guess it could be my drive thats causing all this.

I have had a few family members over to stay, so there is a chance that they have done this, but i havn't actually seen them play oblivion...so.

Edit----

Decided i'm going to buy the collectors edition of Oblivion, ive seen images of how the disks are mounted in its case and it looks alot easier on the CD's, as there are no clips!!, which is good, bad thing is if the same happens to the collectors edition, i'm pretty much screwed as not only is the collectors edition kind of rare now, it costs £50!
