Question [Answered] DVD Rom Problem plz help

i have problem with my DVD Rom, it is reading some DVDs but not reading other DVDs. i have game DVDs of Far Cry and PES 6 ,these DVDs works fine on this DVD Rom. I recently bought Fifa 07 and Need for speed Carbon DVds but my DVD rom is not reading these dvds, when i put these DVDs in DVD rom its light blinks and DVD spins for few seconds but nothing happens after this, and when i double click on my DVD drive in My Computer it gives this message " Disk is currupted or it has the format that is not compattible with windows". Both DVDs works fine on my friends PC....

i have Matishuta DVD, and i have used the lens cleaner but it did not help me...

hello d_t_m, and welcome to PCHF.

Where did you buy the disks from? Are they originals, or copies? Sometimes copies will be a bit flakey and not want to play well with others. If they are store-bought, I'd return and exchange them.

thanks,

v

no problemo. That's sort of what I'm here for; replying.

Okay, the bad news is that if you tried multiple disks that work in other dvd players but not yours, guess where the bad link is. Yes, your dvd player. Even if you can play other dvd's, something is hinky in your player.

start > run > devmgmt.msc > enter > expand dvd/cd rom drives > double click the device > check to see what region it's set to. Then check the region your buddies is set to, and see if they match. Do NOT go randomly changing the region, as you only have a set amount, and it's not many (3 or 5) and then your dvd will not work anymore period.

But at least check to see if you both in the same region. That is where I would start. If you see that it is different, don't change it right off; do some research, or post back here before changing it, as again, you only have x amount of changes to be made.

thanks,

v
