Default {Pending] -ok on dual layer dvds won't on +/-

toshiba M30 laptop with mashita dvd-ram uj-820s multi format +/- RW.
Previously, stopped reading any dvds but would read cds
now, will play dual layer dvds but will not recognize +/- format i.e no disc or i/o device error.
Have updated drivers & uninstalled & reinstalled from device manager> dvd/cd - ROM drives > Matshita DVD - RAM UJ-820s but still no luck
Any advice????

Coline:

What region is your dvd player set in, for starters? start > run > sysdm.cpl > hardward tab > device manager > dvd/cd-rom drives > expand it > double click on the affected item > dvd region tab, and post back with what region it states it is in. And you have tried reinstalling the drivers, correct? Did you do that from the web, or from the disk that came with the device?

thanks,

v
