Default [Resolved] burners/players not recognizing..

I noticed earlier this week that my DVD and CD burners don't respond when I put a disc in either one. Whether it is to burn or play, nothing happens. I will put a disc in to play, and I have to open whatever program I'm going to play it in and force it to play or burn. Usually a window will pop up asking what I want to do, or PowerDVD will open when I put a movie in. This has seemed to have happened to both burners at the same time. With that being said, is it a setting issue? I looked around trying to find a setting but to no avail. I hope this description makes sense, thanks for your time!!

Ah, ok. I'm currently at work so I can't look into that at the moment. I will try it a little later and let you know one way or the other. Thanks for the help!!

1. Go to Start

3. Right-click your DVD drive
4. Click Properties
5. Click on the Autoplay tab
6. Select 'prompt me each time to choose an action
7. Click OK.
8. Repeat for any other drives you may have.

Well, I tried that and still nothing. I didn't have a lot of time to experiment with it, but the "prompt me each time to choose action" option was selected when I opened the properties. Is there a function somewhere that turns that off completely? I'm also confused how this happened all of a sudden....it was working as of a week or two ago.

I have been searching around to find solutions to this. I found the TweakUI for XP and went that route, and still no go. I have read about changing things in regedit, but the descriptions on what to do were a little above me. If that is what I need to do, I'm ok with it as long as a step by step process is listed.

Well, an update. I found the Microsoft autorun fix tool, and of course, that didn't work either. It does however produce a scan log if that will help.
